Bought this when a 91 year old relative who is wheelchair bound came to visit. It attached easily with the included metal bolts. Removing the toilet seat to install the riser was quick and simple.I didn't want handrails that are attached to the commode because using them repeatedly can rock the commode, breaking the wax floor seal which results in leakage when flushed. Instead, I placed a regular folding aluminum walker over the commode for handles. I bought the walker at a second hand store for $7; that plus the cost of this riser was a fraction of the cost of typical hospital type elevated seats with handrails. My elderly visitor said it was the best setup she's used. While it was a little difficult to install, having to remove the bidet to install, but it has worked well.Since swapping out a toilet is sort of a big deal, it certainly made sense on first glance to try this. Unfortunately, this product won't save you from buying a new toilet, unless you only need a quick fix for a few weeks.Inevitably, the long bolts loosen over time, and the whole seat shifts around - with very annoying and even dangerous consequences for toilet users. I had to keep retightening the bolts every week or two. I used a few layers of duct tape to make an extra set of soft washers (they only give you one pair), which I'm hoping will keep the bolts from loosening so quickly.Cleaning is also a problem. You can partially clean around the front part of the riser, but there are spots you can't get to...and the result can get pretty disgusting. You have to take the whole thing apart in order to clean thoroughly. In short: don't waste your time or money on this. Just suck it up and buy a new comfort or ADA toilet. Even if you think you won't need it for long...eventually, if you plan on getting old, you will. I seriously wonder why standard height toilets are even a thing. It's great! Very easy installation.Got this to install pre-op hip replacement. Found out it is too high to use with an 18* high commode seat, and even though I'm 5'8" I found my toes dangling two inches off the floor with this. Don't know if it was the dangling or the shape of the seat (will try it on one of my 'lowline' commodes) but it was very uncomfortable -remindeed me of when I was a kid at Brownie camp and we had to use the outhouse - don't know why, but - hey! that's what it felt like(was it the dangling feet, or the smaller - smaller than the regular seat - opening...hard to tell. The holes did not allow for optimum alignment with the porcelain toilet. I mounted my bidet toilet seat on mine, so all is well. It’s temporary so no big deal. This was the one item I was trying to avoid being added to my bathrooms as I prepared for my hip replacement. I was like….really? Now, I am thankful for more than one reason. (BTW: I am going to be honest/graphic…so please keep in mind when reading my review.) You have been warned. :)1. It raised my seat up like 4 inches, but it felt like 10. So much easier for me to get on and off that thing. I used to just kind of “drop” onto it. Not now. A+2. Easy to clean. The meds messed me up following surgery. The folding option made cleaning the toilet seats pieces and parts a whole lot easier. I will just leave it at that. My wife let me know how thankful she was more than once. Did I say I loved my wife??? I do. She is awesome.3. Installation - really easy. Line it up- insert bolts. Tighten the bolts. Note: You will need a large Phillips screwdriver. A+4. Only irritation: Sitting on the toilet causes urine to form a ring under the plastic seat on the toilet…which is quite annoying…so clean it immediately if you can. Did so say I love my wife? She was such a big help for the two weeks. Whew!Just so you know…the urine did not go over the toilet itself and get on the floor…so cleanup was not too bad. Just a little annoying. Maybe it just happened to me. BUT I do not think so, because the design has indentions on the side that keep you from touching the toilet itself when you lift the lid. THANK YOU!So, in closing…I would highly recommend this toilet riser. It is cost efficient and cheaper than replacing my toilet(s). It is a real life saver and extremely helpful even months later. My toilets are really low otherwise. My only request would to add more of a shield in the front to make sure the Irvine goes into the toilet versus on the toilet rim. Please note my daughter were doing the same thing to the toilet so it is is not just a guy problem. Just saying. ?My wife contracted Parkinson's and she could sit down but not get back up even with assist bars. This riser solved the problem. The original lid created so many problems in removal and reinstallation it was left off (i.e. the original bolt heads had to be ground off to remove it). A picture was taken but who needs another toilet shot. The new bolt washers are too small for the riser slots so wider ones were used.Hint: slather the bolt threads with grease for easier removal down the road. When the wing-nuts are tightened they will pick up some of the grease. This is what was wrong with the original installation. The back of a commode is probably the worst environment around the house as far as rust snd corrosion.Another reason the lid was not reinstalled is when the riser bolts were tightened the lid bumpers caused the lid to rise in front. Washers added to level it out only made the seat higher and out of her comfort zone. Fits perfectly and cleaning has not been a problem.I'm over 6' with a bad hip and toilets in general are toi low to the ground so this item was a perfect fit. I like that the existing seat and cover attaches to it and also that it is hinged so you can swing it back off the bowl. Easy to install and perfect for me.Update, 10/30/21After 10 months use, the major problem with this is that it doesnt have a lip that covers the bowl rip, so if you have a loose movement, splatter leaks under the back of the riser where the only way of cleaning is total removal. I dont recommend this because of that. This product does the job of raising the toilet seat several inches, whatever reason you may need it such as hip surgery etc. It is well designed and made of some sort of polyethylene. It cleans up as well as the porcelain and plastic of the seat and W.C.What I particularly like about the design is the original seat and lid attach over the product so you are sitting on whatever you were using at the time. It all attaches with two long bolts and washers with a screwhead at one end and butterfly nuts at the bottom (lower) end.It would be wise to check from time to time that the bolts are tight so the assembly does not slide around. Good product.I bought this not because I am a senior and need it I got it because I rent and the toilet is so low... Works great and blends well (a lot cheaper than buying a new toilet) love that you can use your own toilet seat. Also the feature that the seat can be lifted for easy clean is great. For young people looks a little strange but I love it.There is not a more uncomfortable seat on the market. Now after seeing it and trying it myself, I would never install it for a handicapped person to pretend that it would be easier for them to use.The part you sit on is far too narrow to sit on it comfortably.Only took a few minutes to install and it fits the elongated bowl quite well. After a week one of the bumper pads on the underside came off. Glue didn't want to stick to the plastic so ended up just leaving it off as it doesn't really make much difference.
